SAPPHIRE CORNER STORE ALL BUT LOST BATTLE TO STAY OPEN

The Sapphire Corner Store is out of lifelines, with its owner saying she will close-up shop at the end of the month, after a frustrating battle with the RMS.
The construction of the Pacific Highway has restricted access to the store, and majorly affected its visibility.
Shortly after deadline yesterday, an RMS Spokesperson made this response:
“RMS agreed to advise the contractor no work vehicles were to park in the store’s
parking area and no contractors were to use the shop facilities such as water for
building activities. RMS also agreed to ensure access to the Sapphire Convenience
Store car park for customers.
RMS also arranged for temporary signs to be installed on the highway to advise
motorists of the upcoming turn off for the shop and advising parking was for patrons
only.
Further ‘shop open’ banners are being made and will be installed this week outside
the store.
Building work on local roads near the store only started in late September this
year. RMS did not receive any requests for temporary signs before the meeting with
the shop owner.”
