Police are investigating the death of an 83-year-old Terrigal man north of Wollongong.
The man was taking part in the Sydney to Wollongong charity cycle and suffered critical head injuries after falling off his bike.
It appears his pedal had clipped a traffic barrier.
He died in hospital 12 hours later.
