PROTEST ON SAME DAY BYLONG COAL MINE REFERRED TO IPC

Dozens of anti-coal protestors made their voices heard in Newcastle this morning, calling for the federal government to honour its committment to the Paris climate agreement.
It follows a new international report warning of devastating climate change.
The Wilderness Society wants our reliance on coal to stop.
Meanwhile, the controversial Bylong mine in the Upper Hunter has moved a step closer to approval, with the state government referring it to the Independent Planning Commission.
A public hearing will be held next month.
