70 years of marriage could seem an impossible feat in the modern world, but today Arthur and Marie Saxelby celebrated just that.
The pair met when Marie was just 17 and got married four years later.
“My father wouldn’t let us marry until I was 21 at least,” Marie said.
Now 98 and 92 years old, they say the secret to their success is in the stars.
“We’re both virgo so we’re both compatible together there’s not too much squabbling about the place….course she has more say than I do,” Arthur said.
Residents at Taree’s Alma house helped commemorate the special milestone.
