CALL FOR MORE DOG PARKS IN CITY

A north west dog trainer is leading the push for Tamworth to install dedicated dog parks.
Peter Bainbridge says a lack of opportunity for social interaction has led to aggressive behaviour in the city’s animals.

According to the councils own “Strategic Companion Animal Managment Plan” 2012-2015 (SCAMP) Page 18…. Action…To conduct research into the provision of more leash free areas in the Tamworth Region…Priority…..HIGH…. I think what you really meant Mr Sheedy was that it is not a high priority for council.

    The current dog park is unfenced and dangerously close to a major road, who will be responsibly when a dog runs off into traffic causing a major accident?? Being that council have deemed that as safe area to allow your dog off leash, I would imagine it would be council that will find itself before the courts.

    Mr Sheedy may also like to go and spend a Sunday morning at the Oxley dog training club. He will see that all dogs are on leash and are not permitted to socialize with each other.
