FAULTY WASHING MACHINE SPARKS FIRE

Recalls have been issued for a line of Samsung washing machines, blamed for 18 house fires across New South Wales in the past year, including one at Port Stephens yesterday.

The top loader had been on for 10 minutes when the blaze broke out.

A woman inside the Corlette home was alerted by a fire alarm, and fortunately the flames were isolated to the laundry.

Six Samsung top loader models have been recalled.
