A 55-year-old man has been ordered to undergo an assessment at Tamworth’s Banksia Mental health unit, after allegedly assaulting a police officer in Quirindi.
It’s alleged Kevin Minchin hit an officer with a chair at the town’s railway station late yesterday, after police attempted to arrest him.
He’s been charged with offensive behaviour, assaulting police, resisting arrest and using a weapon to avoid apprehension.
