Newcastle detectives are investigating the suspected assault of a nine-week-old baby boy at Lake Macquarie last month.
On Saturday 7th September 2013 police were told that the baby was taken to John Hunter Children’s Hospital suffering serious injuries, including multiple fractures and bruising.
While the cause of the injuries is still unknown medical experts have told police the fractures were consistent with the baby being shaken and the bruising consistent with the child having been bitten by an adult.
Now aged 16 weeks, the child is recovering well and is in the care of the Department of Family and Community Services.
Detectives are appealing for assistance from anyone with information about the suspected assault of the child.
