SHARK ATTACKS PROMPT COUNCIL TO PURCHASE DRONES FOR TWEED BEACHES

Following a series of shark attacks in northern New South Wales in recent months, Tweed Council has voted unanimously to put more drones in the sky to monitor the Shire’s beaches.

Council is forking out $20,000 for two additional drones for surf life saving clubs, not covered under the state government’s shark mitigation strategy.

Last month, the government allocated funding for drones at Cabarita and Cudgen beaches.
