Dialysis patients and hospitals in Coffs Harbour, along with nurseries and industrial users of water, are being advised to check the pH and alkaline levels of water from next week.
Work on the new water filtration facility at Karangi will see the lime and carbon dioxide dosing plant closed for four weeks while equipment is transferred.
Residents who have swimming pools are also being advised to check their water.
The shutdown will have minimal impact on water quality which will continue to be safe for drinking.
