HISTORIC WIN FOR NEWCASTLE IN GIRLS HOCKEY

Newcastle has created hockey history today, winning the New South Wales girl’s under 18 title for the first time, beating Parramatta 2-nil in the final.
Newcastle’s own Hockeyroo Mariah Williams scored both goals in the decider.
In this morning’s semi, Williams led the home side to a win over Sydney North.
The visitors equalised early in the second half, but once again, Williams put Newcastle back in front.
A tap-in from Kiahni Abell gave the Novocastrians breathing space, before Georgia Perkins put the result beyond doubt in the final minute.
