LANGUISHING LOCO FINDS A HOME
10 Class steam locomotive N0. 19 and a set of early wooden coal wagons were craned onto trucks and transported from Kooragang Island to te Richmond Vale railway Museum near Kurri Kurri today.
The former South Maitland Railways workhorse began service in 1915, hauling Hunter coal right through to 1981.
It had been maintained as part of an apprentice training program at Port Waratah Coal Services on Kooragang Island.
The heritage listed loco will go on display at the Richmond Vale Railway Museum.
