FIVE INJURED IN SINGLE VEHICLE CRASH SOUTH OF PORT MACQUARIE

A man has been airlifted to Newcastle’s John Hunter Hospital with serious injuries, while a woman and three children are in a stable condition after the vehicle they were in, rolled on the Pacific Highway south of Port Macquarie.

Emergency services responded to the single-vehicle crash near Herons Creek just before midday.

“We’ve had a number of both north and southbound motorists stop to say they saw the vehicle rolling in the air and we will try to piece together exactly what has happened to this family – Detective Inspector Guy Flaherty – Mid North Coast Police.

Police say the 38-year-old male driver was trapped for a period of time before being freed.

He sustained serious head injuries and multiple fractures.

Contents of the vehicle were strewn along the side of the road for several metres.

Police are now calling on witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.
