PORT STEPHENS COUNCIL VOTES IN FAVOUR OF WALLALONG PROJECT

Meanwhile, Port Stephens Council has voted to send a controversial housing development to the state planning authority.
Mayor Bruce Mackenzie used his casting vote to get the move over the line.
“in this case we’ve asked them to indicate if it fits in with their strategy and if that comes back positively the council will say then to the proponents go away and do all your studies.”
The project would see 4,000 homes built in the Wallalong area, and is being opposed by local residents.
