NEW RECORD FOR ANDERSON

Former paralympic swimmer Micheal Anderson has broken his own world record for the 50 metre backstroke at the Queensland Zoggs Swimming Championships.

Anderson, who is from Repton near Coffs Harbour, shaved 0.12 of a second off his time, to set the new world mark of 28.13 seconds.

After taking a break from training following the Beijing Paralympics, Michael has resumed his gruelling schedule, spending five hours a day, six days a week in the pool.

His next competition is the National Short Course meet in Hobart next week.
