FIREFIGHTERS ENCOURAGE STUDENTS TO DONATE TO BUSHFIRE APPEAL

Some of the firefighters who fought the recent blazes in the region were today sharing their stories with students at St Pius High at Adamstown.

“Some of these fires have been deliberately lit so if those kids can understand the effects that the fire has on people and the community at large maybe it will help in the future.” said Jamie Sewell from Hamilton Station Officer.

Year 10 student Corin Ayliffe organised the visit, to encourage her peers to donate to St Vincent De Paul’s bushfire appeal.

“I thought so many people, over 200 have already lost their homes and they need everything they can get so what better way for a school community and a local community to help out.”
