JERRY PLAINS FARMER THROWS MINING ACCESS LAWS IN THE SPOTLIGHT

Mining access laws are again in the spotlight, after a blind farmer lost his case in the Land and Environment Court to stop exploratory drilling on his Hunter property.

Ian Moore has vowed to fight on, urging the state government to halt proceedings until an ICAC probe into the exploratory licence is complete.

  1. This is a travesty – while this ruling may represent the Law, it does not represent Justice, nor the Will of the People. When the Law fails like this, the Law must be Changed. The Powers that Be can take note: they have their marching orders. Mining is NOT essential to Australia’s future: PEOPLE are our future!

  2. What has been allowed to happen to Mr & Mrs Moore is indicative of all that is wrong with the current Mining Act. How the hell can it be more obvious that even in this exploratory drilling stage , Mr Moores livelihood, Mrs Moores loss of privacy & amenity is highly intrusive & clearly not welcome. These transient Coal workers with their disregard for country & critters are clearly not welcome. They are invaders. I heard the Nu Coal spokesperson talk today of the minimal impact exploratory drilling will have. Well it was a ‘simple” drill rig & security staff that recently ran over a large wombat & abandoned her. ( despite a wombat rescue service being nearby) later it was discovered that the wombat had a fur baby. (This baby wombat could well have been saved.) my point is dont arrogantly disregard the impact these invaders can have on flora, fauna & environmental layout & landscape! btw who is responsible if sayif Mr Moores has a savage dog that attacks an intruder? The fact that this mine is associsated with disgarced Minister Ian Mcdonald should also ring alarm bells. BTW Where is George Souris and his mates with all their promises of assistance to the Moores & other land owners?
