FINGAL FIRE CONTAINED

Fire authorities have spent the day mopping up following yesterday’s blaze at Port Stephens, that destroyed 500 hectares of national park.
The cause of the bushfire is being investigated, but the Rural Fire Service says it appears to have been deliberately lit.
The last time I looked at the map Salt Ash was and is still part of Port Stephens and it certainly wasn’t 10 years ago we had a fire of far greater magnitude than this one and if my memory serves me correctly we actually lost at least one home in that blaze.
The Rural Fire Service and the relevant State ministers certainly didn’t learn anything from that fire and they certainly haven’t learnt anything from the fires in Victoria. Let alone anything from the traditional aboriginal landholders.
You have to reduce the floor cover in the forest areas during winter.
