DROWNING PROMPTS SAFETY REVIEW

The Bellingen Shire Council will carry out an inspection of the Mylestom Tidal Pool following the tragic drowning of an 18-month-old boy last Thursday.

The toddler fell into the Bellinger River from a boardwalk and disappeared from view in the water which had been muddied by recent rain.

It took several minutes to find the boy but efforts to revive him were unsuccessful.

The council’s General Manager, Mike Colreavy, says it will make any changes which are recommended following the police investigation into the toddler’s death.
