Stephanie Gilmore has started her world title defence in fine fashion, claiming victory at the season-opening Roxy Pro, at Snapper Rocks.
The 22-year-old took advantage of her local knowledge, to defeat Hawaiian veteran Melanie Bartels in the womens finals.
