Two night-time skinny dippers have sparked an emergency air and sea search at Byron Bay.
Fears for the pair’s safety were raised when clothing, shoes and wallets were found on Belongil Beach yesterday morning.
An extensive search by police, the Rescue Helicopter and the Byron Surf Lifesaving Club followed – but to no avail.
Then just after 4 pm, the red-faced holidaymakers from Melbourne walked into the Byron Bay police station.
The men had decided to go for a skinny dip after a night out, but afterwards couldn’t find their clothes.
The pair assumed they had been stolen.
