Catholic Priest John Sidney Denham has been sentenced to 19 years, ten months jail over sexual assaults on schoolboys, mostly during the 1970s and 80s.
Denham was based at St Pius X highscool at Adamstown in Newcastle, at the time and pleaded guilty to assaulting 39 boys.
The sentence carries a non-parole period of 13 years, 10 months.
