Two 21-year-old men have been charged over an alleged fake robbery in Coffs Harbour,in which one of them was shot in the shoulder.
In June 2011, a man who was working at the Morefish Cafe at Park Beach told police he was robbed and shot while putting out the garbage.
But officers allege he was part of a workers’ compensation scam.
The alleged victim and the person who committed the crime have conspired to defraud the insurance company. In my time as a police officer I’ve never seen that as I keep saying nothing that comes over my desk today surprises me.”
Both men are due to face court tomorrow charged with numerous offences, including fraud and robbery.
