GOOD SAMARITAN IS CARJACKED

A good samaritan assisting at an accident scene south of Lismore last night didn’t receive the welcome he was expecting.

The drama unfolded just before 11pm, when a 61-year-old woman left her Mitsubishi Lancer running outside the Wilson Park Public School.

Police say two men then stole the car and drove off along Wyrallah (WHY-RAL-AH) Road, but crashed and rolled the car soon after.

“A passing motorist stopped to assist but unfortunately for that person he was assaulted by the two occupants of the stolen motor vehicle,” said Richmond crime manager, Det Insp Greg Moore.

Police say the 18 year old was punched several times in the face.

A 23-year-old man is now under police guard in Lismore hospital, while a 25-year-old man is assisting police with their inquiries.
