GRIM OUTLOOK AS DRY CONDITIONS TAKE ITS TOLL

The New South Wales Department of Primary Industries says continued dry conditions through autumn could have a major impact on annual cropping and livestock production.

The D-P-I has released its seasonal update – showing an average of five to 100 millimetres of rain falling across much of the state in March.

The minimal rainfall has pushed more areas of inland New South Wales to drought conditions.

A lack of soil moisture has now put farmers across the region in a tough position – with many now weighing up when to sow winter crops.
