Another battle for the Regal Theatre at Birmingham Gardens… with supporters fighting to keep part of the carpark.

Newcastle City Council is planning several upgrades to the area for pedestrians and cyclists, but would see 20-parking spaces go.

“This is the really sad news, it saddens me *breath* it sickens me to say if that carpark is diminished in that way, we won’t be able to reopen.” says Regal Cinema exhibitor, George Merryman.

Dozens of patrons are meeting with council tonight.
