SPARK NOT YET GONE FROM BAY NEW YEARS

The traditional Warners Bay New Year’s Eve fireworks may yet go ahead.
Organisers pulled the pin yesterday after Lake Macquarie Council decided not to help with funding.
But the celebration, which attracted 30,000 people to the suburb’s foreshore last year alone, has been handed a lifeline, with local businesses chipping in $10,000.
“We’ve had a lot of phonecalls today. It’s been fantastic, and hopefully some of the offers that we’ve had will come to fruition and we might have some good news tomorrow.”
