Two large business in Taree have unexpectedly ceased trading in the past week.
The iconic Fotheringhams Hotel closed its doors over the weekend and remains shut this week.
The owner has told The Manning River Times the closure is temporary but refused to comment on nature of the businesses problems.
Meantime Kiswel Homes has gone into liquidation with debts totalling more than $5-million.
A meeting of creditors will take place in Taree next week.
