LIFEGUARDS GO BACK TO SCHOOL

Council lifeguards have gone back to school in Port Macquarie, to educate the next generation of beachgoers about surf safety.
Senior lifeguards are visiting a number of local primary schools to discuss beach safety awareness with children in years three and four.
The program, which kicked off at St Peter’s Primary School today, is to help ensure young people have basic knowledge before heading to the beach this summer.
Lifeguards services are now operating at Hastings beaches until April next year, with the assistance on weekends from local surf lifesaving clubs.
