MAGISTRATE’S FRUSTRATION OVER LENGTHY DELAYS

A Newcastle magistrate has expressed frustration that a case centred around the fatal shooting of a man at Raymond Terrace in June has stalled.
Daniel Forbes and brothers Chad and John Shedden are charged with the murder of 21-year-old Joshua Maynard.
The magistrate, Elaine Truscott, today said a four-month police delay in delivering a swab from the handle of a machete to a laboratory was “completely sub-standard” and “should not have occurred”.
It’s alleged the deceased had been holding the machete.
The results of the analysis are another three months away.
