Let’s get real here. The claim of 200 people? There were 9 – yes NINE – separate groups there each of whom had about 4 or 5 people – that means 50 max were associated with the protest.
The rest of them were there for the Art sculpture and the Stay Safe at the beach day.
This was an amazing rally. Despite the searing heat, about 300 were on the beach for these inspirational talks. I was there. The Walkabout park which is trying to stop sand mining had a koala and python; if this sand mining goes ahead it will take out a sandstone chunk of our aquifer which is 30 metres deep and 53 ha. And ruin the park (which it will be next to). If a hole of this size was cut in our acquifer, the water would no longer run along the sandstone layers, then into streams, then our dams. The sand mine would kill the aquifer effectively. And we have level 4 water restrictions here on the Central Coast sometimes!! All this for a New Zealand mining company Rocla which will leave with LOT$ of money in their pockets, but leave us with a hole in the ground, in our water supply. Outrageous. Local Liberal member Chris Hartcher was there, as was State Greens MLC Ian Cohen, Surfrider President, the amazing “water man” Peter Andrews, etc etc. The only thing that kept people away was the ridiculous heat. Ian Cohen’s speech is on youtube for anyone who is interested:

Nice one Katz, and how do you explain why all the people were wearing blue Tshirts, is that the normal garb of the Art Sculpture Crowd, it was almost 35 degrees in the blazing heat and only dedicated people were at the Rally, check ths photos out, a picture tells a thousand words not a thousand lies..www.noship.com.au
These negative comments are absolute classic, a protest is done to raise awareness and its working or you wouldn’t be wasting your time writing here trying to shoot everything down, thanks for letting us know we did a good job, make sure you tell everyone you know what a bad rally it was, we need people like you to spread the word.
A protest doesn’t need a certain amount of people for it to be successful, some of the worlds most powerful protests have originated from just one person or a few people as demonstrated by the powerful hunger strikes in Ireland by the Ira through to the million people who marched against the War in Iraq.
The easiest thing in the world is to say no and be negative, when you say no you don’t need to explain anything, you just say no, it’s the gutsy people in the world who get in there and do something, and when i mean something I don’t mean typing a few words on the keyboard..
Have a look around you, Australia is the best place in the world by far, if you don’t protect it your future generations will be the ones that pay..
Keep up the negative comments, try and get them on as many websites as you can and email your friends, many thanks for the help.
