Following on from our Sydney to Hobart coverage, organisers of the Pittwater to Coffs Harbour yacht race say it’s looking increasingly unlikely Wild Oats XI will be a starter.
The supermaxi is on her way to securing a fifth Sydney to Hobart line honours win, but she’s sailing well behind her 2005 race record time.
It was hoped Wild Oats XI would reach Tasmania with enough time to make it back north for the January 2nd Pittwater to Coffs.
Although that’s now looking unlikely, organisers say her smaller sister, Wild Oats X will be among the fleet of 60 leaving Sydney.
