JETS D’APUZZO HEADING HOME TO SYDNEY

The Newcastle Jets off season recruitment drive has suffered a blow, with highly regarded defender Adam D’Apuzzo granted a release from the club this afternoon.

After five years and more than 100 games with the Jets, D’Apuzzo has decided to return to Sydney to be closer to his family and reassess his football career.

He’s now hoping to earn a contract with Sydney FC, who are about to embark on their Asian Champions League campaign.

D’Apuzzo was offered a new deal to stay in Newcastle, but says the lure of playing at home or possibly overseas in the future was too strong.
