Woolgoolga High School was shut down for the day after a chemical scare this morning.
Fire crews, police and ambulance were called, after a cleaner found yellow substance in the main office area just after 7am.
Five staff members were decontaminated and sent home, and the school grounds were cordoned off for the day as a precaution.
Authorities say samples of the substance have now been sent to Sydney for testing, but they do not believe it is hazardous.
The school says on its website, classes will resume tomorrow.
