There’s been yet another twist in the saga of Newcastle’s Laman Street figs – and one that could hit ratepayers in the hip pocket.
The council’s insurer, Statewide, had decided it would cover a $35,000 bill for stability testing, but late this afternoon it withdrew the offer, following intervention by council management.
