A Hunter mother and daughter are recovering in separate hospitals after both suffered knife wounds.
Police and paramedics were called to a house at Greta at around 6am where they found a 12-year-old girl with a knife wound to her neck.
The girl was taken to John Hunter hospital where she is now in a stable condition after undergoing surgery.
Her 40-year-old mother was taken to Maitland Hospital: she’s in a stable condition after being treated for what’s believed to be self-inflicted knife wounds.
Police do not believe a third party was involved.
