HUNTER SURFERS CONTINUE TO SHINE AT SURFEST PRO JUNIOR

Merewether’s Ryan Callinan has drawn Port Macquarie’s giant killer Matt Banting in tomorrow’s quarter final of the Pro Junior at Surfest.
This afternoon, Callinan made light work of the conditions, at times he was even backwards coming forwards.

Once the scoring rides were in the bag, he took the chance to practice some new moves.

Fellow local Jake Sylvester tore the waves apart and grabbed some rare air as he also advanced to the quarters.

In the girls’ event, South Africa’s Sarah Baum showed why she’s one of the favourites.

Philippa Anderson finished 2nd in that heat, and both progressed to the next round.
