CHARITY FUNDS CARS FOR CANCER PATIENTS

At least 25 patients undergoing cancer treatment in the Coffs Harbour region
now have access to a new transport service to get them to therapy sessions in the city.
The Newcastle Permanent Charitable Foundation gave the Cancer Council $68,000 for two new Subaru Forresters to pick up patients and take them home.
Volunteers will do the driving free of charge.
Cancer Council Spokesperson Gill Batt said, “if you have to rely on somebody else to drive you, they may be able to drive you once or twice a week, but you know that’s where this car comes in because we can pick up where other people can’t.”
A decision will be made soon on where the second car will be deployed.
