LAND COUNCIL SAYS PROTESTING ISN’T THE WAY

The Darkinjung Land Council has distanced itself from demonstrators at the Bambara Reserve, saying the protest action isn’t the way to see the site declared a national park.
The land council is continuing its own fight through new state MP, Chris Holstein.

It seems that this isn’t quite as lucrative a battle as the fight that one the land that made millions in the Magenta Shores sale.
One could easily get the impression reading this that Chris Holstein is actually fighting to “secure Bambara’s future” (Ministers promise B4 election). No … what Chris wants is for the LANDOWNERS to secure Bambara’s future by caving in to the Council’s offer (approx. $50K per block) or the NPWS offer of $90K (take your pick). What is really suss about this is the fatuous claim that these are”open market” offers. BOTH Gosford Council and NPWS are refusing to give the landowners the valuations that support these ridiculous “offers”, and further are also refusing to resume the lands, because that would entitle the owners to be compensated fairly under the Land Acquisition (Just Terms) Act. No doubt these crafty bureaucrats in Gosford & Sydney & their limp political appendages want the land, but on terms that are far from just and fair.
Its a shame in this day and age that a major local indigenous group is becoming more connected to power politics and profit driven economics than it is to connection and custodianship of the land.
