Some aspiring police officers learned the ins and outs of water policing in Newcastle today.
The Indigenous Police Recruitment program at Hunter TAFE involves 18 weeks of full-time study and hands-on experience, and is designed to increase the number of aboriginal officers.
“The need for the bond to be built between aboriginals and police is vital and this is a great program to have aboriginals actually policing the aboriginal community”
The students hope to be accepted into the Goulburn Police Academy after they graduate in July.
