STATE BUDGET – WHAT’S IN IT FOR THE HUNTER

Royalty payments by Hunter Valley miners have helped dig the government out of deficit.

The mining industry’s contribution to the state will this year surge from about $953-million to $1.8-billion.

Of the money flowing back the coalfields, $1.3-million for an ambulance station at Cessnock, following a five-year battle.
