CARAVAN OWNERS WARNED

Caravan and mobile home owners are being reminded it is now mandatory to have smoke alarms installed.
The New South Wales government warns owners now face on-the-spot fines of $200, if it’s found they don’t have a proper device fitted.
State legislation, which commenced in February this year, made it compulsory for moveable homes, to have smoke alarms, if they’re used for sleeping in.
However owners were given a six-month grace period to comply, and fines now apply.
The laws were introduced to help to reduce an escalating number of fire deaths.
