Meanwhile a $5-million upgrade of Coffs Harbour’s main runway is set to proceed after council last night agreed to fund the project.
The upgrade will mean the airport can continue to meet the
requirements of large jet aircraft.
The airport is one of the largest in regional New South Wales and caters for 350,000 passengers each year.
The upgrade will accommodate jets to Boeing 767 standard and will meet the growth in demand by the tourism and industry sectors.
The work is expected to commence later this year.
