MRI SCANNER FOR TAREE

In a major boost for health services in Taree, the Mayo Private Hospital will soon have an MRI scanner.

The announcement was made today as part of a $12-million upgrade, which will include an additional 30 beds and a pathology unit.

The MRI scanner is being funded by Mid North Coast Diagnostic Imaging, and will offer residents a service not yet available in Taree.

The state member for Myall Lakes, Stephen Bromhead said, “For years the doctors have had one hand tied behind their back and patients have had to travel either to Port Macquarie or down to Newcastle, many of them too sick and many can’t afford it, and now they’ll be able to have it done right here in the Manning Valley.”

The upgrade is expected to be complete in 12-months.
