COFFS CALL TO AXE FEES ON GRANNY FLATS

Coffs Harbour City Councillor Mark Sultana wants to axe developer contributions for granny flats to improve affordable housing.
He says existing charges for a secondary dwelling are too high and are deterring residents from building them for relatives.
It would apply to structures of 60 square metres or less.
“Anything you know on acreage or big blocks that could fit that size building then yeah, why not, it’s keeping families together, it’s keeping grandma, it’s keeping grandad at home,” Councillor Sultana said.
Council will discuss the proposal at its meeting on Thursday.
