Just watched video of Peter Young about his vision for the Gold Coast as its Mayor and it is certainly attainable with the co-operation of a majority of other elected councillors. It is imperative that the person elected to the
Mayoralty has already served in a local government council.
Peter young has the integrity, the vision and the ethics to lead this city. He has a firm knowledge of the cities history, it ‘s needs and it’s people. He has promoted the city overseas, knows and cares about the bio-diversity of Eastern Queensland and is aware of social necessities.
He is a good Ambassador. He has energy and enthusiasm. Tourism and the Arts would be well catered for with Peter as Mayor.
Peter Young is part of the problem, not the solution. He along with 14 other Councillors have lumped this city with a debt of over $750 million, rates and charges have gone up by over 8% every year, Council is spending 33% of income just on salaries, they are spending more than they are earning. Peter Young is promising a rates reduction and to spend millions on building stuff. Well given the Queensland Treasury Report into GCCC finances makes the point,” we do not believe GCCC can deliver savings “, how is Mr Young going to deliver. Simply, He’s NOT GOING TOO!!
I asked Young about debt at recent Mayoral debate, and his condescending answer in front of hundreds of voters did not win him a single vote. Young is anti business, anti development and his time as a Councillor has seen investment in the city reduce to a trickle. He claims credit for the Commonwealth Games when the fact is, he was at best the orange boy and at worst simply left right out of all meaningful discussions! Simply all spin no substance!
