The mission to bring 12 Joint Strike Fighters to RAAF Williamtown has been postponed to help boost the Federal Government’s bottom line in next week’s budget.
By delaying the fighters’ arrival, the Government will save $1.6 billion.
Prime Minister Julia Gillard commissioned a new defence white paper a year ahead of schedule due to significant changes domestically and internationally since the previous paper released in 2009.
