Chad Shedden smirked at detectives as he was lead from the dock this morning after being convicted of the murder of Joshua Dillon Maynard at Raymond Terrace.
Mr Maynard was killed in June 2010 during a confrontation between two groups of men on Links Drive.
Jurors handed their verdict just before 11 o’clock this morning, after one day of deliberations.
Throughout the three and a half week trial Shedden’s defence team argued the 34-year old was acting to defend himself from Mr Maynard when he shot him with a sawn off shotgun.
Shedden maintained the victim was armed with a sword when he was killed, but the Crown Prosecutor argued there was substantial evidence to indicate that was not the case.
Shedded will be sentence in the New South Wales Supreme Court on July 6.
Someone needs to tell the murderer he is the one going to prison, not the detectives.

Josh Maynard was a young father who had two loving children and loved them both to death and would do anything for them. It’s a shame he’s not here anymore to whatch over his kids grow up into adults.
