WEATHER UPDATE: CENTRAL AUS HAD COLDEST NIGHT IN A DECADE
It was very cold last night, Alice Springs had its coldest night on record in 10 years. Central Australia is chilling out, thanks to this big pulse of cold polar air that has surged in, producing some amazing frosts right across the Tablelands and the slopes.
There will be a little shift in this current trend of cold south westerly winds. This low is quite intense, it is whipping up more swell, so there are massive waves for surfers. They are wrapping around the southern point breaks, so it has been a pretty good season for surfers and that will continue.
Most of the nation is clear and that is why it is so cold at night. On Wednesday showers will start to develop around the Hunter, pushing north to the mid north coast by Thursday.
The winds will move right across to the south east, so that shower activity will spread across the entire eastern seaboard.
The big problem inland is the crop damage from those severe frosts and they will continue. Once the winds shift to the south east we will see a more moist air mass move in so the frosts will be less severe.
