It’s been confirmed work will begin in the next fortnight, on the $10-million upgrade of Taree’s Mayo Private Hospital.
By early next year, the hospital will have two new operating theatres, an extra 20 beds and an MRI scanner.
The scanner will be the first of its kind in the area and residents will no longer have to travel to Port Macquarie or Newcastle for the service.
The upgrade is a priority for the hospital’s new owners, Healthe Care Australia, who took over the business on July one.
